Make Hay While the Sun is Shining!

This could be an interesting holiday season for San Francisco real estate. Demand is very high for homes that check the boxes, so some sellers who’d normally be advised to wait for spring are getting advised to move forward and list when ready.

Let’s be honest: Things feel a little unpredictable right now. Politics, the economy, our social systems–it’s all moving around, and housing is likely to move along with it to some degree. None of us is sure what tomorrow will bring.

For sellers, times are looking good.  For buyers, it can feel like you’re running uphill. Homes in desirable neighborhood–and Glen Park is definitely one of them—are selling fast, often with multiple offers and well over asking. Citywide inventory is about one-third of what it was this time last year, which means competition is fierce.

If you’re looking to buy, now’s the time to team up with a good agent who can help you spot value and put together a winning strategy on a house by house basis. Listing prices are really just conversation starters these days, often well below what the seller expects. A little insight and preparation can make all the difference.

Not into bidding wars (and really, who is other than sellers?! Look for homes that overshot the mark and have been sitting for a couple of weeks, or check out condos, TICs, or multi-unit buildings. You’ll find less competition and maybe even a hidden gem.
